At SPAA the emphasis is on employability. SPAA encourages all students to take their examinations in at least one teacher qualification.
SPAA is one of the top performing arts colleges in the UK. SPAA has designed one of the best Musical Theatre Courses and with its fully equipped studios and studio theatre; it is well on its way to meeting its goals.
SPAA have designed a multi purpose course which focuses on employability. As a Musical Theatre star, you must have be a “Triple Threat” Whether you are a: Dancer, Actor, or a Vocalist, we can help fulfil your dreams.
SPAA’s course encompasses all three aspects to give you an all round education. SPAA’s Musical theatre course, will cover:
The first year at SPAA is an introduction to core subjects by providing a thorough grounding in technique. You start to strengthen your core skills whilst preparing you for the profession.
Within the training, the first year aims to set you up with good practise and the strength to become a successful performer.
You work towards a showcase at the end of each term to show your progression. You will have assessments in all classes and personal assessment days towards the end of each term.
You will take your Grade 7 / Silver, Grade 8 / Gold drama exam and some appropriate Ballet and Tap exams.
The second year of the course aims to build on core subjects and furthering strengthening and broadening your technique.
You will start working on your PCERT LAM as well as Ballet and Tap exams if thats your preference.
The second year will give you a chance to explore the concept of TIE (Training in Education)
Pantomime and at least three shows, including the chance to write your own Devised piece.
The main emphasis in the third year is to prepare the students for the profession.
Workability is a key to success. Working towards your PCERT Lam and DDI/DDE ISTD gives you the ever needed something to fall back on. We will encourage you to go on auditions to gain experience as well as work experience in this field.
In February you will go on a College trip to New York to undertake series of workshops and theatre trips as well as Industry professionals.
You will participate in three shows including the graduation show in a central London Theatre. Which we invite various agents, directors and choreographers.
Towards the end of the course, you will be asked if you wish to take on a part-time Scene II theatre School branch.
This three year Musical Theatre course equips a performer with the necessary skills to work as a professional.
This Performing Arts Course will enable each student to reach their own potential.

2 monologues (1 classic, 1 modern)
2 Vocal pieces (1 Musical Theatre, 1 popular. Music on an iPod/Mac or CD, no sheet music)
Dance piece of your choice.
You will also need to bring with you some evidence of previous training and experience (please see application form)

We are looking for talented people who are looking to train in Musical Theatre. You Must be dedicated and want to work in this business more than anything else in the world. 100% of our current graduating students have gained Top Agents. We offer a intense three year Musical Theatre Course based in Essex. You must be prepared to want to work hard for 3 years... We are looking for serious people who want to dedicate their next three years to training.... please DO NOT Apply if you are not serious!
Once a year we old The Kerry Ellis Scholarship award event... at Pineapple Studios... Through this event we (or Kerry if she is available) choose 1 Recipient of a 100% Scholarship.
